Last Saturday to This Saturday in Review

I had to fly out to Singapore for my every 3 months border run for valid Visa thing.  And I might as well try to do business and meet up with some friends while I’m at it.

Saturday - Past midnight, I was over at Supper Club and then over to Stereo Lab.  Both really nice venues.  Then afterwards it was Mickey D’s…  I swear I never ate so much of that crap in so many days in a row (there’s no McDonald’s in Vietnam).  Woke up went shopping for a replacement hard drive for my Macbook Air which was a total fail.  But at least I got to walk outside of a Cosplay convention which gave me ideas how I can totally nerd out for next years halloween.  Later that night, was I got to meet my internet friend mentioned in the last post.  She had some funny video clips, hopefully I can snatch laters.

Sunday - early morning shopping before heading out to the airport.  Shopping in Nam sucks, so I had to take advantage.  I love Muji, Uniglo, Pull & Bear, Topman and I can’t remember the other store I hit up that morning and bought.  Flew back in to Saigon, to have dinner again with the Google folks in town.

Monday - Spoke to a potential client for running a cool campaign for next year.  Looking for sponsorship for show on TV that totally takes advantage of web community and technology of social web and mobile platforms.  How cool would it be creating ‘a thing’ from either your mobile or laptop; and then pushing that content out to all other social sites and potential on to TV where people can access and see that content from all 3 screens?  Neat-o!

Tuesday - Meeting with the two internet behemoths separately.  The web is going social, and social web is going open!  I think widgets by content providers will be huge next year.

Wednesday - Met with probably the smartest guy in Vietnam that’s under 30 who happens to be one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet as well.  Trying to do stronger tie-ups between his, mine and another friend’s company.  It’s amazing how much you can get done with working with really, really bright people who are not assholes.

Later on, we had Industry night party that we threw for all the models, singers, actors here in Vietnam at a real nice venue.  So yeah, we all got smashed.  Nuff said.

Thursday - Gobble, Gobble, Turkey day.  Not quite the same as my mom’s cooking; but having turkey, cranberry, mash potatoes, gravy, mac n cheese with a few friends I call family here in Vietnam was really nice.

Friday - First meeting at 8:30 and continued having meetings till about 5 or so; and then at 6 had to be at trade event for TV channel side of business.  Got to check out Gaslamp Killer spin for the after party.  I can appreciate what he does… but he still sucks in my book.

Saturday - celebrated my cousin’s birthday on a nice yacht cruising down the river in Saigon.  Very bling.  Afterwards, it was Loretofest to catch bands like Ratatat and I love Hiroshima, and just really enjoying the foreign music with all the top local music artists watching.

A busy week, but a good week.  =)
