Mumbling and Tumblring thoughts on the new iPad and just ‘being’ online

I flick, tumbl, scrobble, digg, tweet, 4square, yelp and whatever else, pictures, video, music, text, reviews, links I can add to my social life stream on the web and into whatever www cloud.

With all that information about me you can probably predict when, where I deposit my next stool sample.

But think about it you can probably tell if I’ve been getting fat or not or even if I was dating somebody new by the places I’ve been checking in at with 4square, what type of restaurant reviews I have on Yelp, and lack of work out music in my last.fm charts. Then you throw in status updates, tweets and blog posts; and recent pictures tagged in flickr or facebook really tells you what’s up with a person.

That or it really makes people look like the really annoying proud parent type or constant drunkard swinging party animal. Guess which category i’m most likely to be stereotyped in?

“Never have anything in your life that you can’t walk out on in 30 seconds if you see the heat around the corner.”- Robert Deniro, Heat

Having all that stuff online really makes all my physical belongings really unnecessary. I can literally pack up all my things; cash, bank cards, passport, phone laptop, external drive, favorite jeans, havianas, swim shorts and tee all in my trusty Tumi backpack in 30 seconds and hit door without looking back. All of those are replaceable or already backed up. Renting a bungalow in Bali for a month has been on my mind as of late.

Going back to doing all that activities online, I think I still want the dissapointing (in features) new iPad.  I was hoping it would be the answer to Penny’s book computer from the cartoon Inspector Gadget (since microsoft might pull it off).

I love iWork. I don’t even know how many pitch decks I’ve done in Keynote. And my finance spread sheets with live charts look so fresh in Numbers. So being able to carry that to present to clients/investors/staff from that slick swiping thing would be awesome.

Social web apps are all in the app store and work well.

3G and wifi together is big plus.

No webcam. Would have been perfect for skype, iChat. Or even the fun stuff like photobooth.

Other stuff like handwriting recognization, app multitasking and some other stuff is OS updatable.

I know I’ll get one. But probably wait for version 2.
