MindMapping

is so much better than linear style note taking, and is also makes it so much easier to take a step back and see the whole macro view from above.  On the mac there’s a freeware called ‘mind node’ that works really well.  Here’s what’s been on my mind:

The way I learned it is that it’s best to start off with a ‘purpose’ in the middle and then the initial branches should be ‘keywords’ or ‘themes’ and you just go from there.  After completed; give it a break (in time) and revisit it and reorganize.  Colors are very important since it helps you visualize things better… which helps with memory, decision making/problem solving.  There’s also a bunch of video tutorial on mind mapping on youtube as well.
